This is what I did this morning with paperMoney. Remember, as mentioned in yesterday’s post, I am going to run through the same morning routine with the same strategy with fake money for a whole month before I devote real capital.
9:15 am: Alarm clock goes off. I hit the snooze button. I just have to [...]

This post was posted automatically at 12:01 am EST on August 31, 2009. It has been worked on many days in advance.
Three years ago on this day I registered vdsat.com. (You can check the whois records if you’re bored enough.) This blog went up less than a week later and the rest is history.
For those [...]

Back in June, I discussed my itch to buy a trading computer, I actually bought it, and I also talked about abandoning swing trading in favor of day trading.
In July, I talked about only installing the bare necessities on the trading computer, I mentioned that based on paper trading the day trading plan wasn’t going [...]

During the last few days, you’ve heard various reasons for why Obama reappointed Bernanke to a second term as Fed chairman:
It was the safe choice.
He did a good job.
You want continuity in these uncertain times.
If not Bernanke, then who? Alternatives aren’t so great.
That’s all a big lie. The bottom line is that the Fed owns [...]

I just finished my slides for my advisor meeting. I blogged about it the other day.

Many times you can kind of see this coming so you think about working on slides a few days in advance but it just doesn’t happen because you [...]

As mentioned in an earlier post, I shorted SPY on Friday. Looking at the chart below, you’d have to be pretty crazy to short this chart, but I did it anyway.
On Monday when we had the pullback, I recognized that the move probably sucked in the dumbest bears and that the likely scenario is that [...]

Girl: Were mine better?
Me: What? This? (Points to swiss rolls on dinner table.)
Girl: Were mine better?
Me: Wait, did you make this plate or that plate? (There are two plates of swiss rolls.)
Girl: Just say yes.
Me: So you made this?
Girl: No, these were purchased.
Me: So…
Girl: Just say yes.
Me: What did you make?
Girl: I made swiss rolls [...]

Late in the afternoon I shorted 50 SPY @ $102.65.
Unlike most other times when I buy SDS when I want to short, I directly shorted SPY. I figured there’s no point in buying SDS if I am not going to use the leverage.
